QFA Ranking

What are the QFA Rankings?

QFA maintains Ranking Lists for all those Queensland fencers who compete in QFA competitions. The Rankings are based on an accumulation of points from State Competitions over a 12 month period.

There are separate Rankings for Men and Women in each weapon across different age categories - Open, Junior (U20), Cadets (U17), U15, U13 and Veterans (40+ - where applicable). The age categories are based on a fencer's age as of the first of January that year.

How are the Rankings calculated?

Each time a fencer competes in a QFA competition, they will receive a number of points based on their result. The sum of these points across a 12 month period is used to calculate a fencer's ranking. Only fencers who are registered members of the Queensland Fencing Association are eligible to receive ranking points.

Events contribute ranking points to their respective age category and all lower age categories (except Veteran Rankings where only Veteran competitions are included). Each set of points earned generally lasts for 12 months until it is replaced by the new results from the same competition in the next year. However, a fencers points will also expire if they are no longer eligible to be in a certain age category.

The number of points received is based on the general formula shown in this table, with a number of modifiers applied for certain competitions:
