2017 Fencing Awards

Awards 2018Nearly 100 Queensland fencers, family and fans gathered at our annual awards event on Saturday 10th February, celebrating our 2017 achievements and making plans for the year ahead.

The Queensland Fencing Association gratefully acknowledges Fencing Imports Australia for sponsoring this year's awards and also James Hall Personal Training for donating raffle prizes.

The Leader and Wong families are particularly happy, walking away as this year's raffle winners.

Coach Bridging Course

To assist Queensland coaches satisfy accreditation requirements for 2018 and ensure continued professional indemnity insurance cover under the National Fencing Insurance Scheme, the following course is offered:
Fencing Coach Bridging Course
DATE:     Saturday 10th February 2018
TIME:      10:00 am to 4:00pm
VENUE:   Yeronga SHS Sports Centre
COST:      $30
The course will include:
  • coaching theory and practice 
  • an overview of the new National Accreditation System
  • an opportunity for coach assessment 
This course will suit:
  • Trainee and previously accredited coaches
  • Coaches not previously accredited who are seeking Recognition of Prior Learning
The course is an approved activity under the AFF National Coach Accreditation scheme. In addition to meeting requirements for 2018 coaching accreditation, participants will earn points towards their 2019 coaching status.

Australian Open and Veteran Fencing Championships 2017

2016 Nationals Sabre Team

Exciting times this weekend (8-12 December 2017) for the Queensland fencers listed below, travelling to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra for the Australian Open and Veteran Fencing Championships 2017.
