QFA Cadet (U17) and Youth (U15) State Championships

 

The Queensland Cadet (U17) and Youth (U15) State Championships will be held at Yeronga Park Sports Centre on Saturday 22 Jun 2024.

 

Fencers wishing to enter must be paid and approved Junior or Senior Members of QFA. To enter Youth events, fencers will need to have been under 15 years of age on the 1st of January 2024 (ie. you are eligible if you turn 15 during 2024, or younger). To enter Cadet events, fencers will need to have been under 17 years of age on the 1st of January 2024 (ie. you are eligible if you turn 17 during 2024, or younger). Fencers who are Under 15 can also enter the Cadet events. Fencers must be a minimum age of 10 on 1 January 2024 for U15, or 12 on 1 January 2024 for U17 or have the permission of a suitably qualified coach in order to compete in any event.

 

Fencers/Parents should also note that this event is a National Requirement to be able to enter the National Youth and Cadet Championships, failure to compete in this competition may result in entries to the national competition being refused.

 

QFA reserves the right to cancel, postpone, combine age groups or reschedule events subject to any restrictions at the time of the event and/or entry numbers.

All fencers intending to compete in this competition MUST register through the event link. No walk-ins will be accepted on the day.

All fencers participating in the Youth (U15) event will receive QFA ranking points in that age category. All fencers participating in the Cadet (U17) event will receive QFA ranking points in that age category, and the Youth (U15) age category if the fencer is eligible. Age is determined by the fencer's age on January 1.

To compete in multiple events, please register for each individually. Events may overlap and will not be held up for fencers who have entered multiple events or who have arrived late. Fencers entered in multiple weapons may be offered withdrawal with refund on the day of competition, prior to the start of the following event, should unavoidable overlap of play occur.

All participants are expected to assist with setup and pack down of the venue.

Competitions are fenced using full whites and electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Weight and gauge will be tested prior to each bout. Fencers must supply their own equipment. QFA is unable to lend equipment to fencers

Fencers must arrive at least 30 minutes before the event start time to get ready. Fencers must be fully equipped and ready to fence at the start time for their event. Events will not be held up for fencers who arrive late.

Check-in will open prior to the event start time, as announced by the DT, approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. Fencers are encouraged to check in as soon as it opens. Check-in will close at the published event start time. The DT reserves the right to start the event early if all competitors are checked in.

Medallists will need a club tracksuit jacket or shirt, or full fencing whites for presentations.

Events with insufficient registrations may be combined with other events in the same weapon. Please check the schedule after close of registrations to confirm. Changes to the schedule will be emailed to affected registrants, and the option to withdraw with refund will be provided to these fencers.
