State Squads Resuming from Saturday 25 July

Published Tue 21 Jul 2020

It's been a while but we are back. State Squads will resume on Saturday 25 July starting at 9:00am to 10:30am (State Representative Squad). Wednesday squads will now run from 6:00pm to 7:30pm (Competition Development Squad). Sessions which do not have the minimum number of required attendees will be cancelled. We will also be running under significantly changed conditions. Here's a few reminders:

  • All fencers must pre-register and pay prior to attending a session. Fencers who have not done so will not be admitted.
  • Enter the hall via the main entrance. Exit the hall via the side exit only.
  • Individuals who arrive early for training sessions are not to enter the facility until the allotted session time.
  • Fencers should be dropped off and picked up at the main carpark drive through.
  • All fencers will be required to have a temperature check on entering the fencing hall.
  • All hygiene measures must be complied with.
  • Fencers must come prepared to fence as no changing of uniforms will be allowed.
  • You must also bring your own water bottle (or purchase from the vending machine).
  • Fencers must maintain a minimum distance of 1.5m at all times except while on the piste.
  • All equipment is to be stored in zippered fencing bags and should not be placed on the piste or floor. Bags are to be spaced at 1.5m apart and well away from the training area.
  • No one other than registered fencers, the designated session coach, the COVID Safety Officer or a QFA official may enter the training space.
  • No co-mingling between groups; no gathering in groups.
  • All equipment must be disinfected or santised prior to and after use.
  • Access to a training session or venue is not permitted for the following persons:
  1. Has a current diagnosis of COVID19 or has been in direct contact with a known case of COVID-19 in the previous 14 days.
  2. Any symptoms consistent with COVID19 or who is a high health risk (e.g. due to age or pre-existing health conditions).
  3. Travelled internationally in the previous 14 days or to an interstate area of Australia with a known active cluster or declared COVID Hotspot in the previous 14 days
  4. Any individual subject to measures under the or isolation measures under the Biosecurity ACT 2015
  • Vulnerable individuals in the “At Risk” categories defined by health authorities must seek medical advice prior to attending fencing facilities.
  • The designated isolation point should a fencer become unwell during a session is the QFA office.
  • A detailed attendance register will be held on file for a minimum of 56 days.

There's a lot to remember but it is in place for your safety and for the safety of all others in our community. Let's look out for each other as we return to fence.
